See notice of hearing text below:
The Final EIR for the Burlingame Point Project at 300 Airport Boulevard, Burlingame, CA is now available for review. The Document is available on our website - City of Burlingame, California : Burlingame Point Project (former Drive-In Theater)
The Final EIR consists of responses to the comments received during the review period of the Draft EIR, and revisions made to the Draft EIR in response to these comments. Because there were a lot of comments regarding potential wind-related recreation impacts, a Master Response was prepared to address these comments. The Master Response is found in Section 3 of the Final EIR document. The remaining responses are found in Section 4 - Written Comments and Responses and in Section 5 - Oral Comments and Responses. Appendix 1 contains the Technical Responses to Questions Raised related to wind-related recreation impacts, and Appendix 2 consists of Wind Speed and Turbulence data.
The Draft EIR for the project is also available for download on the above website page.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider the Final EIR and the development project on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Burlingame City Hall, 501 Primrose Road, Burlingame, CA. The Planning Commission's action will be a recommendation to the City Council. The City Council hearing will be scheduled once the Planning Commission takes action on the Final EIR and the project.
The application is for development of a new office/life science campus on an 18.13 acre site at 300 Airport Boulevard, zoned APN and APS. The proposed project consists of 767,000 SF of new uses, including office or life science uses, retail uses and food uses located in four buildings (5, 7 & 8 stories), a 2-story amenities building and a 5.5 level parking structure. The Planning Commission will be making a recommendation to the City Council on the following applications: Certification of the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) prepared for the project, amendments to the Bayfront Specific Plan to increase the allowable floor area ratio within the Anza Point North area from 0.6 FAR to 1.0 FAR and to amend development standards, rezoning of a small portion of the site from APS to APN, amendments to the Zoning & Sign Codes to change development standards; Vesting Tentative Parcel Map, Development Agreement, Conditional Use Permit for day care use, and Commercial Design Review.
If you challenge the subject application(s) in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing, described in the notice or in written correspondence delivered to the city at or prior to the public hearing. For additional information, please call (650) 558-7250. |

A particularly interesting part of the EIR is the "Appendix I Wind Tunnel Report". It says there is "no impact to windsurfing launches" <<<<this is BS!! and I doubt they took account of a westerly wind direction.
Looking at the site map in that document, there is another plot of land next
to fisherman's point that says "future developement". This is 350 Airport Blvd. We should push Burlingame to put a park there WITH A LAUNCH and lots of parking for mitigation. Another building there would be even worse for our inside wind.
Link to Apdx I: (scroll down to site maps)
Note that they plan to re-route Airport blvd and improve some of the
shoreline between fishhermans pt and the beach, but not upwind of fishermans pt.

Yup.
This does sound like a middle finger:
| Quote: |
As described on page 3.11-10 and 3.11-11 of the Draft EIR, the wind study conducted for the Project determined that implementation of the Project would not substantially impair prime windsurfing and kite boarding areas or substantially impair access to or from those areas, and would not result in a significant impact to recreational windsurfing and kite boarding uses in the area.

So - what should we do? |

another FU:
| Quote: | In doing so, the City determined to focus on reduction in wind speed rather than turbulence as the best proxy for protecting conditions necessary for continued wind-related recreation at Coyote Point, including board sailing.

| I sail at Coyote all the time and am concerned about this potential development. I will be out of the country on this date. Is there anything I and others who can't make it to this hearing can do to make our voices heard? |
