deep water currents seek troughs that can carry them. shallow areas immediately along the coast get eddies. that bend in the coast at the cape does make for interesting weather.
in the USCG, i was on a cutter that had to go to norfolk for some quasi-military exercises. at the 90 degree turn around OBX, there was a cold front awaiting us.... only been more seasick once in my life, that was a hangover out of kodiak, alaska. funny, only been seasick 2-3 times in the CG. that cold front off OBX was not much of a storm, just the swell angles made for a real sickening yawl.
one of the best wave sailing sessions in this past year since the last WS Mag board test, was the day i spent at isabella's inlet with my 11'5 board and a 6.2 sail. 9-18 wind sideoff, slightly overhead, and waves peeling halfway to frisco pier. water was at least 5 degrees warmer that day down there vs avon pier a couple days prior. _________________ www.aerotechsails.com

| I've had good luck in May. they say its early for the trades I'd do either maui or the gorge. I scuba, surf, Sup in maui or ski/ board on hood on non windy days. |
