virtually nobody on it. sailed it with my exocet wind sup in 45 degrees side onshore wind blowing 7-12 mph. had a blast. friend of mine told me about an even more epic swell yesterday that i could not enjoy. these are leftovers....

Looks sweet. What kicked that up? Do we have a tropical system already?

Here is a shot from the Clew-View of Rad Brad getting some air.
Same coast just a little further north and a little colder!

7-12 mpg? That's pathetic. What size sail do you use? I would need a 12.5 or bigger.

Florida juice....very jealous. We are not getting that up North

SJ: Why stop at a 12.5?.....maybe a 14.0 Superfreak....put 3 mast sections together

was in Jupiter FL yesterday as well and had the same break...was sweet for SUPing as it was close to dead calm and they were breaking about a hundred yards out with minimal shore break to get through. died out late morning though. we've had good ENE winds for a week prior generating 5-7 footers the day before.

7.5 sail and the wind SUP from exocet. easier and better for sub 15 mph than the 11'5? amazing what one can do with larger boards if one tries. sad part about it is not many even will demo. plenty, okay, way too many dayz with winds in the 7-12 range slightly to 45 degrees onshore down here. evidently, not that many in lots of other places on the east coast? remembered a few in the hatteras board test. guess who was out in the surf on those non-planing dayz? no one but me.

yup a long board is big, but it beats sitting on my adze getting another day older and frustrated to hear about big waves to play on. no, i don't like to paddle if i can sail.

so, all in all, "pathetic," as usual is a relative term. i was smiling ear to ear on every ride. surfers that were watching me catch 20 to 1 wave rides were jealous. no SUP paddlers to be seen. been out when a few have tried in "that much wind" and have seen the pouts and heard the bitching. again, all relative.

i grabbed more waves, further out and rode them longer than anyone else that day. did front side to back side turns at least 2-3 times per wave. sometimes in the straps, sometimes not.

those little specks in the frame are people, folks, the waves were leftovers from the day prior that was bigger! that's right, my buddy that took that pic said he really missed not having an 11'5 exocet.....

Sounds great. Let the porch sitters sit.....Is the 11'8 appreciably better than the 11'5? I have the 11'5 and it's still in good shape, don't really want to trade up. Not going to be SUPing the board so don't need that advantage. Strictly for windsurfing, with the daggerboard on the 11'8 not in use, how do these boards compare?

I SUP sailed on my 11'3" Amundson two weeks ago on ankle biters and had a blast. I would have loved to catch a session like that. It's all about the wave.
Speeking of waves have you all seen this video from Ireland?

That's a cool video, Evan.... I love that Amundson 11'3. Do you put on a bigger fin than stock? I put a 29 cm fin on mine and it planes off, free riding in flat water. I sent John Amundson an email and told him he had made a great windsurfing board and he was totally psyched, saying he had been windsurfing it too. My only problem with it was the mast foot screw ripped out in strong conditions, but the repair is solid. I asked him about the version with the full mast track that is 180 liters (rather than 160 that mine is)---wondering if that is stronger build.....these long boards like the Exocet/Kona 11'5 and now this Exocet 11'8 are really versatile and fun. I read somewhere the other day, the definition of funboard is a board on which the rider is having fun. It was a quote from a pro windsurfer from the mid 1980's...

I have the one with the full mast track. I run the stock fin. My biggest sail is a 5.2m so that is what I run on it in the waves. Tons of fun in light side-off wave sailing. I like the quote if your having fun it is a funboard!
