The attacks on Obama as a socialist, a marxist, or a Kenyan Muslim aren't really school boy stuff. Nor does it work with anyone who has been educated about different political and economic theories. The targets are lower, as we would expect of people who think that selling a presidential candidate is the same as selling soap. Using code words for Obama is part of that "scary black man" subtext. The man who developed the Willie Horton ads is still working for the Republicans. Truth is fungible, but images are powerful.

I suggest you guys watch "The Undefeated" about Sarah Palin to see what your side stands for. I know, I didn't support her, but it's interesting. On the Reelz channel for 2 more days.

My side?

My "side" stands for a Federal government that:
1. Does not spend us into oblivion, but recognizes when we NEED to spend money to save jobs, industry and the economy.
2. Understands that health care spending is out of control and enacts reforms that guide the existing private medical delivery system to reduce costs and provide a better product.
3. Insures freedom of and from religion.
4. Takes a measured and cautious response to the use of military force.
5. Understands that energy policy is multifaceted and enacts policies to reduce energy consumption and begin weaning ourselves from foreign sources of energy.
6. Recognizes that we cannot balance the budget on the backs of the middle and lower classes.
7. Recognizes the need to provide realistic and effective regulations to protect the nation's health, safety, financial stabilty and environment.

My "side" has nothing to do with a Hollywood movie.

Just watch the movie, at least the 1st 30 minutes. It might change your mind.

We may be on the same side afterall.

I have no doubt SB. I think you might find we have more in common than not! We just disagree in how to get there!

Speaking of the original posters topic.
I do not believe rich folks dont care. I have examined the analysis done on that data with interest. I run a school partly with help from affluent donors.
Most of them chose us out from our website.
A group of high schoolers from the affluent Milton Academy in Boston, mostly one percenters, spent the year selling candy and t shirts to raise $7000 to buy concrete blocks for a new classroom.
Now it is Spring Break and they are here in person, mostly teenage girls, to lay the blocks for us.
I think an attitude founded in Machiavelli actually helps establish a lineage that gets rich, while making you bitter and cynical. Few teenagers aspire to be their parents so they come help us.

Since I don't go to the movies, or have anything but basic cable TV, I doubt whether I'll have the opportunity to watch the highlighted movie concerning Sarah Palin. However, in the context that Bard presented it, I can surmise that Palin is ridiculed and demonized by others, and that the unfairness is apparent.

Remembering back to 2008, it was quite obvious to me that Palin made a point of voicing and broadcasting the "us versus them" dialog. The "I'm a real American that cares about our nation" while casting those on the other side as somehow un-American and bent on taking the nation down the wrong road. While I understand that she was campaigning for her side in an election year, but even after losing the election she boldly maintains the same themes in the public arena.

The way that I see it, she wanted to become a public figure. Yet, when you do that and promote a divisive platform, you will in return receive blowback, particularly from the folks that you're trying to demonize. Do I condone and agree with all that been said about her? Quite honestly, no. But, do I feel sorry for her, and feel she unfairly got a raw deal? Well, no, not at all.
