Actually, Ben is the hero for starting the forecasts early.

Awesome Mike, Super good stuff!!

Sailed Cabrillo Friday and Saturday. I'm not a hero i'm just addicted..

Friday was an amazing day!! Got on the water about 4 and was totally stoked as the wind filled in. Thought about sailing to Catalina as very clear and looked doable. Been doing some research around this..

Saturday was not very good.. was able to sail the outside on a 7.5 / 125 but wasn't able to get on a plane and really just bobbed around in the surf for a bit. Still amazing to be on the water.

Looking forward to the forcast.

Not hopeful for much on Sunday but maybe you will surprise us Mike!

Phillip---yes, it's been sailable every day since Wednesday but just a heads-up to all Cabrillo sailors that the wind sensor has been changed and the machine no longer reads accurately.

So, like the Belmont and Sunset sensors, take the lowest number (purported lull) and consider that the average....purported average is a proxy for gusts and purported gust does not exist. Even after all that you will still be puzzled as to what planet the sensor lives on.

At 4:15 (machine said 16 average) I watched people slogging on 7.8s. At 5:15 I estimated the wind at 7 to 16 averaging 11, maybe 12.

Indeed, Chris is correct that the sensor overstates the conditions. I was out at same time, and it was definitely less than sensor indicates. Barely planing on huge board and bagged out 8.4.

Hi Ben,

Actually I was thinking of both you and Benjamin Miller. But I was driving while typing on my ipad while posting on the forum so I sort of covered two Ben's with one post.

p.s. ever driven across the bridge while eating an egg McMuffin, taking off
your shirt, and talking on your cel phone? ;*)
