From the recent article "Higher social class predicts increased unethical behavior":
Quote:

Seven studies using experimental and naturalistic methods reveal that upper-class individuals behave more unethically than lower-class individuals. In studies 1 and 2, upper-class individuals were more likely to break the law while driving, relative to lower-class individuals. In follow-up laboratory studies, upper-class individuals were more likely to exhibit unethical decision-making tendencies (study 3), take valued goods from others (study 4), lie in a negotiation (study 5), cheat to increase their chances of winning a prize (study 6), and endorse unethical behavior at work (study 7) than were lower-class individuals. Mediator and moderator data demonstrated that upper-class individuals’ unethical tendencies are accounted for, in part, by their more favorable attitudes toward greed.

Didn't pay for the full text, but the free Supporting Information document in itself contains a lot of very interesting observations.

Puts into perspective the constant demonization of lower classes by many conservatives here, doesn't it?

You guys actually believe there is a difference between big government and big business? OMG....Just spent some time with congressional staffers, they'd eat your children for a vote.

The American system did very well when there were no taxes. We had our worst depression shortly after the income tax was levied. But the kicker is this. Can anyone here name a government that didn't eventually brutalize it's own people? Human nature is human nature. You think the writers of the old testament were writing fables? This shit has been going on for thousands of years, and will continue. No matter who runs the govt, there will always be the 1%. You can either waste your life striving for the gold ring, or enjoy your burrito on the sea wall, happy that some other dumb idiot is working 20 hour days trying to screw you out of a nickle. It is your choice whether he gets your nickle or not. Shut off your cell phone, close your bank account, get rid of your car. Could you still be happy? Who cares is some other dude makes a shit load of money.....stop trying to get his money, and create your own.

Hey Bard, do you think all those folks with lots of money always earned it? And if they did, how about those that were used and abused to get it.

I've got to wonder, too, whether it's only right wing money they envy. Do they consider Gates, Buffett, sports/movie/rock stars, Soros, coboardhead, etc. among the pricks, or does their envy and I-want-his-wealth-not-my-own stop at the political fence?

All money is the same shade of green, Mike, even disability checks from the government ("...I-want-his-wealth-not-my-own...") that you so love to hate.

I dontknow anyone trying to get other people's money except Iso.
Bard is right. I shut off my cell phone, sold my car, closed my accounts ,put away my shoes and have been very happy down here with everything but the tiny gov which resembles your high school student council.
Gov. can be too small also, like here in Belize and Somalia.
I would like to add to Bards second good point.
Big biz equals big gov.
Big biz equals small gov.
Big biz equals gov.
Your job as a voter is to remove those of any party who put big biz or their Church ahead of the people.

I note that the original post was non partisan and iso added the partisan hatred and insults as he does in most of his posts. He doesn't understand that the reason there were no partisan remarks made in his presence at the meeting he atttended was because the guy who usually makes them was shutting up.

Did America do very well before there were taxes? That is a remarkable statement.
Someone should make a film " A Year in America With No Taxes"
They would need to shoot in Somalia with the sets from a zombie film showing US cities after taxes ended.
