Posted: Thu Mar 01, 2012 9:37 pm Post subject: AWSOME winter Gorge sailing vids!! |
|
|
I am posting a couple vids from a sailor who doesn't want to "toot His own horn".... but SHOULD.
This guy's attitude of pure joy on the water and the beach embodies everything my vision of what windsurfing is.
I'm gonna do the link to the second vid first caus' of the most awsome bail shot I have EVER seen... pure perfection but total luck!!
The coolest thing about these vids is it puts you right in there!! at THE most fickle Gorge location there is and the one with the very best swells. Many have tried to catch it... most have failed. the ones who have will never forget.
Most vids are all "flippedy- doo!!" and you can never see the swells... This one is not.. well a few shots are... he just couldn't help himself!!.
How AWSOME is this... look at how loooooong the jibes are on these swells!! think hard and you are right there. If you look close you close you can see the perpetual smile through all the noeprene. THIS is windsurfing the way it is meant to be.
Second vid first (ignore the cheesy music please) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTju34BVzQk
First vid with more smiles... ( I love the lowness of the sun in the late fall) ... more cheesy music... maybe worst than the first.... Maybe... can you say DISCO!!!...( ignore that comment please (or not)). I like the drops on the lense in some of the shots.. looks friggin" cold. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRzeNrPQUJU
Cool stuff .... ROCK ON!!

| Very nice stuff. Cool to see a bailout from the clew perspective ... I'm much more used to seeing my board flying away from me. |

I "like" the music on both of them, but it seems not to suit the topic
listen to at least 1 minute of this see how it fits....

That is what the volume control on your computer is for and why they invented Itunes

Actually I think he inteded it the music "slightly" on the "cheesy side" to Lighten things up. He can also throw out lyrics on the beach to the most obscure songs ever at the drop of a hat... you never know when they are coming.
When you watch the vids notice how he kinda freeze frames when every there is killer swell in the shot.... It is of course always about the swell isnt it?? |

Thanks for the kind words...way too kind.
I'm happy anyone was able to get a feeling out of the videos. Re the music, it's integral to what it was. I didn't have the patience for the camera on the first day, and besides knew that I'd be too much of a $^&#^$ to actually try the moves that I want to video to see what I need to do to really try...but then got on a beautiful swell with Buckaroo and watched him ride it. I frantically had to go get the camera to try and preserve that image in my head as a little souvenier, hence the song. Plus...the words on a swell "cause all we need is a world of dreams...just be yourself, be free, let's be free." What? Not going to be happy unless you're free, only way to be free is to get loose, and the only way to get loose is to dance. Can you dig it?
Deja vu...how can one take oneself very seriously when making the same video all over again? Plus, the song has always cracked me up, it is nice, and again the words..."this is divine, I've been waiting for so long...that's worth more than you could know." Too true. Even if it just happened.
Only can hope and try to finally be able to start to make "flippedy doo" videos...that's the way I like it...watch http://vimeo.com/m/30746276 and http://www.boardseekermag.com/inside_line/index_017-4.htm among many others. They make me feel like that's some mighty real kinds of sailing. |
