Sunny & Steady if I'm hitting the water... Dark & Stormy if for some unfortunate reason I find myself a spectator. Will never forget the scene at Swell City early last season with the wind raging and the HUGE swell due to extra spring run-off.... we watched a few brave souls out there with total respect. Of course, as Isobar's has warned in the past, the rain started and the wind was gone in less than 15 minutes! Amazed everyone made it back... maybe they didn't....

bright, but with a fair dappling of clouds, and a healthy gale. add to that, a 15-20 second swell pushing in surf that tops out at 15 foot or so, and a side to side off wind direction. ahh, the high life. happens very rarely in florida, all the sweeter when it does though.

Sunny Steady midday, and Dark and Stormy for the late afternoon adrenaline surge.

(I don't do Dark and Stormy mornings very well, and would prefer to sit in van, drink coffee and point out that whoever is on the water is clearly a kook)

Ps ...I would also ask for JB's "fair dappling of clouds"

I like the sound of those rum drinks

I tried Sailor Jerrys spiced rum with hot tea, nice

I think some of the storm sailing folks have touched upon why I like those sessions so much- the suspense of variable conditions (both leading up to the event, and during the event), the challenge of being in the right place at the right time, and the satisfaction of having experienced mother nature at her "worst" after you make it back to shore. They're definitely memorable days, as evidenced by Ron.C pulling out a specific date from over 7 years ago!!

Of course, I don't really mind when it blows SW every Spring and Summer afternoon, either... But truth be told, those hundreds of similar, glorious days all tend to fade into one in the ol' memory banks...

Oh, and one more personal question for the rum lovers- Do you stir before consumption, or do you enjoy it... Pirate Style... with rum still on top?? Very Happy

Go to Bermuda.......have a Dark and Stormy and you'll change your mind about mix! Have three or four and you'll change your mind about many things!! Stir the ginger beer and rum vigorously to get some foam, time the shorebreak, then go in strong!
