Just a quick mail basically encouraging anybody ( probably most) New England sailors who haven't already been to the East of Air set up to go check it out .

I'm a newcomer to the New England scene, but to see somebody who put in as much effort as Dan Weiss to get something like this moving, I reckon any windsurfer with any interest whatsoever should plan an afternoon to go by and check it out , plan your next picnic there or just go say hi..... maybe even go windsurfing ( hey thats an idea).

Long story short: That guy busted his balls and made a great set-up..... support it ! Even moral support counts !

Aloha,
Josh

Josh, you are too kind!

East of Air's first season turned out to be better but a bit shorter than expected. We've made tons of new friends, turned a lot of people on to windsurfing and SUP, and generally raised the stoke level.

Of course, with every new venture comes some speed bumps and we seemed to hit them all. East of Air is in a huge zoning dispute, suffered vandalism and theft, endured the loss of a 60x60 pole tent and generally got off to a much slower start than I'd hoped.

I'll try to help everyone with equipment needs, and I have a lot of brand new or lightly used 2011 Angulo boards and Gun sails/spars available if you need something. Just give me a call.

And thanks to everyone whose shown interest and support for what we're trying to achieve. Windsurfing is back in a big way, Boston!

Oh yeah, please come by to windsurf. Use your own gear, our gear or a combination of both. Since East of Air is running on in a limited seasonal stance (meaning, just me) please call me before you come out. Otherwise, you are bound to see a beautiful site and a bunch of locked container doors without anyone around.

Let's go windsurfing!!

Hey Dan,
What exactly IS east of air?

your site says where it is, that you can have weddings there, but for "what" takes you to face book.

It's a shop conceived for failure. First of all Winthrop isn't all that popular with windsurfers and it's a quiet beach area. Second as far as Boston locations are concerned, it's in a remote suburb. If you want to eek out a living in active water sports you have to sell either kiting equipment or SUP's today. SailWorld had a better location on the Mystic River in Slumville. Now they do mostly a bicycle business and sold a lot of SUP's this past season in Bourne. However, neither they nor Inland Sea in West Dennis do all that well. They can't afford to run A.C. and don't carry enough soft goods. East of Air won't do any better than WindSnow&H2O in Hyannis did.

Lotsa sour grapes there, Brucie. Must be that the owners accurately ID'd you as an annoying skinflint know-nothing windbag and kicked your sorry ass outta their stores, just as Phil Mann did.

Wow, Talk about king of the Aye Holes. Somebody puts his heart and soul into doing something great to promote the windsurfing industry and this is actually what you have to say. Mom is truly going to be disappointed in you with this one Brucie. This is even more appauling and disappointing than your online admissions of stalking young boys while surfing porn behind the sand dunes while sanding your fin.

You must be one unhappy dude. I have never seen so much negative energy and ill will towards others come out of one person. You truly should be ashamed of your self. And Im not talking about your appauling craftsmanship you displayed on the other post.

I for one will send all of my business to East of Air and refer everybody I come in contact with to this business. I wish them great success.

You should be banned from the human race.

Everyone is welcome at East of Air, even those who offer negative comments without ever stepping foot onto the place. Ahem. Cool

Admittedly, East of Air's website isn't what it needs to be, and our Facebook page has been the main source of info. That worked OK for the first season as we addressed more urgent matters but cannot be the situation going forward. No argument from me on that one.

What East of Air offers is far more broad, and different, when compared to what's offered by more traditional windsurfing shops. In fact, East of Air chose to display dozens of gleaming boards that windsurfers and paddlers actually use in our rental program. We invested close to $100,000 in brand new toys so that windsurfers, SUPers and kayakers could rent regularly for a rate that comes up as a far better value than actually owning the gear.

For example, if we agree that buying three windsurfing boards and five sails, plus all the mast, booms, unis and extensions could cost $10,000 depending on what is purchased, an East of Air customer has all that available for a very reasonable rate. Well, all that and more, since we don't offer just three boards and five sails but a boundless range.

East of Air rents the following windsurfing gear:

4 BIC BEACH 225D
6 BIC TECHNO 293D ONE DESIGN
BIC TECHNO 160
BIC TECHNO 148
BIC TECHNO 133

PLUS, each rig has either 100% carbon masts or 70/75%, plus carbon, hybrid or top drawer alu booms.

OH YES, East of Air is proud to feature Streamlined bases and Euro-pin, Twist-On tendon extensions. The standard diameter extension are upgraded with ball bearing rollers while the RDM extensions offer Streamlined's standard and bomb-proof "regular" rollers.

You may either rent it or buy it. The choice is yours. No hassles, just good fun. So, East of Air isn't a shop. We offer the largest rental fleet at the highest levels of performance than anyone around and both a harbor launch and ocean launch.

Also, East of Air rents Bic and Angulo SUPs, kayaks and recreational bikes to enjoy Deer Island or wherever. All of this exists in a parklike setting, with a gorgeous carousel for the kids and a 60x60 pole tent with parquet dance floor and stage.

East of Air is many things, but I run my side like a passionate windsurfer.
