Frumpy Grumpy ... yeah. Would like to see structure necessary to support "cable park."
My first thought is what about the osprey / Herons / Cat-tails / Fishes.., etc that inhabit that space now? Also is a very nice place to paddleboard.
Sorry... just not sympathetic to power driven activities. _________________ CU Sailin' |

Nice to see that Maui is involved. I like what he has done in, and for Hood River thus far. I think it's a nice spot for a nice looking hotel and business office. While the cable is not my thing, my teenage sons and their friends are stoked out of their minds about it. I think it's a perfect fit for that basin and will get a lot of use and generate a lot of smiles. I spent a couPle of hours looking at pictures and YouTube videos of cable parks around the globe. It looks absurdly fun.
Having said all of that, I hope dissenters make their voices and concerns heard loud and clear, as there are undoubtedly a host of issues that need to be addressed for this project to fit Hood River.
Something that I see evolving in Hood River as a parent and teacher of teenagers is a surge in the younger set coming
down to the water front. A lot of young kiters to be sure, but also young SUPers, a fairly large group of young windsurfers and lots of kids jumping off the docks, piers etc. I think this is a great thing for the kids, and the town of Hood River. Just as the park at ski resorts is not my thing, the cable park may not be either. BUT, I sure love how into it the kids are

Grumpy?? LOL. You'll see grumpy when the Event Site Poachers have to open up their dusty wallets for a cable ride after the new wears off and the Spit turns into the Hotel Beach !!

To be fair and balanced, a positive thought I can offer is,, cable riders who lose their grip on the handle will only have to swim about 20' to get back to shore. |
