Hey Gang

2nd group and week began today with a blast of 30Kt winds, sun and 70F.

Dan Weiss and I are here from New England and I will update more as the week goes on.

My first sessions of the year, and out of shape, but I made my first jibe of the year. I figure that is always good luck.

Smallest board to test is about 100 liters so we were mostly on our own gear today.

My testing data will include gps tracks, and hopefully video.

later.

Today was a strange storm day.

This morning 30-40mph winds with some brave soles out. Then big thunder boomers chased every one in.

Then the wind shifted NW at 15-20 so we got in an hour or so of testing.

It shifted to the N and died a little so I walked a little to get back to the house.

My wife is being wonderful company, and letting me do what I love.

More tomorrow.

Hope you are enjoying Hatteras.........the weather has been a little "changeable" for the past week or so! 20 miles North of you the wind shift was remarkable.........30-40 SW to 15-20 N in about 10 minutes........oh, and a torrential downpour in the middle! Getting back to the beach was a challenge.

Looks like a light wind day today......if you want to accumulate a few bonus points and thank your wife for her indulgence, take her to the waterfront at Manteo.......still a bit off-season, but a nice place to visit and stroll along the boardwalk. Good luck with the rest of the week!

I was out yesterday morning on a 3.7, it was intense, I was riggin my board when that 67mph gust came thru, almost lost the rig. Monday was fantastic, first time at hatteras, great place, hopefully go back soon, I was staying at the houses behind ocean air, great spot, two miles out and you can still stand up , AWESOME.

Thanks

Good advise. My wife and I were tourists during the no wind morning. Guys are rigging 8m and up now, too light for me. about 12mph.

Here is a cool picture Jean took this morning.

Hoping for another few knots.

There are several boards in the test that will allow sailing in really light stuff, just gotta wanta do it. The pump to plane skills acquired help in many ways beyond just free riding about. Watch the more successful light wind sailors there. Ask how they do it. Then give it a go. The flatter water on the offshore days makes for a really good time.

Friday morning, very light wind.,

Yesterday was a full day of testing with 15-20 pretty much all day except for a noon lull. There was a fishing net put out right on our line out, and until Josh marked it with mylar birthday balloons, many including me got catapulted when the fins caught. Unfortunately there was some gear carnage and a lot of shaken up sailors.

This is like being a kid in a candy store.

I'm still sore from all that light air pumping last week. Thank god we had great wind the second half of the week.

Were you able to score any more wavesailing?
