Anyone been to Bonaire at end of December?

Appears it is not their prime season, any trip reports would be appreciated.

I've been there twice. 2003 for King of the Caribbean, and again in 2005. The first time I was there spanning the 4th of December. I know because that was my 50th birthday. (Nobody said Happy Birthday to me, but that's another story.) The winds were terrific until the very last day. Probably in the 5.0 to 5.5 range, with a few 4.5 days. We stayed at KonTiki. It was an unbelievable trip, especially because the likes of Tati, Tonki, Ricardo, Kauli (???), Kiri, Robby Swift, etc... etc... etc... were there. Sail all day, party every night.

The next time was from Christmas to New years. We only had about 3 days of sailable winds. Rest of the time we blew things up with the copious amounts of fireworks we availed ourselves to. Still a great trip. Stayed at the Belmar Penthouse. Incredible place to stay. On the off days we went to Spelonk, Washington Slagbai, Rincon, etc... Lots of stuff to do for about a week.

We are going back next March Smile

Thanks for the feedback, sounds like a roll of the dice with forecast the last week of the year, but worth a try!

Whats your recommendation on the connection flight in Caracas?

Never done it. If you have a choice, fly direct on Continental from Houston.

Thanks for the referral. Dec. can be great! Most often the winds return Nov. and into Dec. in what we call the Christmas trades.

I have a blog that discusses all aspects of Bonaire so take a peak www.bonairebliss.com and my website is www.bonairecaribbean.com.

Happy Sailing
