Every year water seems to get behind my ear. I can feel it swishing around and can’t get rid of it. Can anyone give me a remedy? |

I can't, but I'd sure see an ENT physician about it while it's happening. Abnormal occurrences in that area threaten one's hearing, balance, and brain.

I have trouble with liquid in the inner ear from sailing also. But I think it is not river water, but an allergic reaction, related to the runny nose I get from river-up-the-nose. I don't know how to get rid of inner ear fluid, except maybe sail better and quit the face plants. |

My problem has nothing to do with water coming in the ear canal, which ear plugs would help with. It has to do with water going up the nose, affecting the sinuses, and eventually causing problems in the escutcheon tubes and the inner ear. Ear plugs have no effect on that. But maybe a nose plug would, although when I have tried those I feel like I am suffocating. I would prefer to just sail better. |

try silicone ear plugs while sailing and "swimmer's ear drops" (alcohol base) afterward...
both available at your local pharmacy... |

If ear plugs or drying solutions diminish any fluids in the middle or inner ear, you have a perforated eardrum and are risking your hearing, maybe even your life (brain infection) by sailing.
Nasal lavage fixes my river nose up quite well.
