Which windsurfing spot in the Caribbean would satisfy (most) of the following criteria:
Windsurfing:
- need to practice water starts and jibing
- shallow water
- onshore wind
- may be able to handle small waves
Family:
- non stop flight from NYC
- good beach for swimming/sunbathing
- decent food (all inclusive OK)
- decent hotel, don't need to be fancy
- NO need for casino/nighlife, but some good restaurants are a plus |

Bonaire:
non stop DL JFK BON Sat.
Shallow
Warm
Hone your skills
learn to jibe/ABK
Hotels/condo properties for a family near 100 or slightly more
great dining and affordable
Air can be pricey so if DL is high check the red eye Fri. and Sat. night from Newark to BON on CO.
Our winds ALL of Jan. have been howling..there is no el Nino here..

Yes, I figured all that out. Now I just need a place to stay with a high Wife Acceptance Factor (WAF)
She read online that "there are no beaches on Bonaire". And the few you could find are long walks away from the nearby accommodations.
In short, she wants an Aruba style place right on a beach with good dining nearby. Please help! (Price is a factor)
We would take the Newark flight March 13 - 20th.
I'm planing to sign up for the ABK school so car rental is needed. Can we rent a car in the airport? |

If your wife likes Aruba go back to Aruba..case closed..yes you may pick up the vehicle at the airport but a reservation is essential. 243.10 USD a week with taxes. There are no hotels with beaches near windsurifing unless you go nudist. This changes Dec. 2010.

Ann, do explain. Please.
This could mean many things:
- A hotel is being built at Sarabon and nude sunbathing is being banned on Bonaire
- In general, nude sunbathing is being banned - bummer.
- A new windsurfing beach was discovered
- No more SMNO's (slow moving naked objects) to watch out for while sailing.
Give us some details!

There is no new hotel. DJ and Floris bought the hotel and Dec. 1 will convert to a traditional hotel or as nudists call it textile.

Well no nude resort no nude beach
- A new windsurfing beach was discovered
- No more SMNO's (slow moving naked objects) to watch out for while sailing.
Not after Dec. 1..I will be booking the new property..still can if you are a nudist.. _________________ Ann Phelan

Well, that's interesting. So, the, um... er... how shall I say... "contemporary" women that would come to Lac Bay and go topless... are they no longer going to be able to enjoy their ... freedom?
(That would be unfortunate.)

Dutch women of all ages will most likely go topless. Topless and nudism are two vastly different areas to discuss. Nudism is a lifestyle..topless is merely tanning your boobs..IMHO..

Max, forget the nudity thing..it's over...topless prevails in the Dutch and French Caribbean and a little in the British islands even tho it's frowned upon. Once you get over the excitment of seeing a few boobs, enjoy our wind..its been cranking. Ya, we have kiting over at Atlantis. My clients love it but do other things too like dive or snorkel. Don't come here just to kite. _________________ Ann Phelan
