|
|
Batten (or whatever this tube is called) punched a hole in the must sleeve and sail looses its shape. Does anyone know place to repair that around NYC/NJ?
p.s. btw it is 1 year and 1 month old gaastra 7.5 Matrix. gaastra rejects to repair it under warranty because.... their warranty is exactly ONE year only. note to myself - "read fine print". |

it's not so clear what your problem is...
usually, a small hole in the mast sleeve is not worth repairing. the mast sleeve is actually quite difficult to repair, as the you really need to take the sail apart to get at it.
it sounds like maybe your problem is that the batten has worn through near the luff, and is poking out, or maybe into the mast sleeve. if so, this may be fixable without taking the mast sleeve off.
you might even be able to fix it yourself with a sewing awl or palm.
i see you are in NJ, and i don't know anyone local, so your best bet may be to send it off for repair.
i often use sit-down sail lofts for repairs on windsurfing sails. in CT i use Hathaway Rieser and Raymond, in Stamford - a small independent loft, with generally low prices for this kind of thing. they've even done some small repairs for free. the one issue with sit-down lofts is that they may not have the perfect material for some repairs.
Closer to the city, there are a few lofts on City Island.
I'm sure there are lofts on the jersey shore too. |
