depends on your skill level.
You can sail at Great Sacandaga Res., Round Lake, or several spots on Lake Champlain. Road trips are made to Lakes Bay or Cape Cod.

Also check out http://www.hvwrr.org/. This is the Hudson Valley Windsurfers. There are some additional venues in the Kingston area @ Exit 19 off the Thruway. When the northern lakes freeze up, the Hudson remains sailable a little longer and with opposing tide/wind condtions sets up fairly well and less than an hour south from Albany. RC
