I made a board rack for storing my toys (SUP, surfboard, 2 slalom boards, wave board and beginners board for teaching wife), but am not sure where to find nice padding for the rack arms. Any idea what kinds of (Los Angeles area) shops carry nice rubber padding?

Easy, Home Depot, Loews, or any plumbing supply store, it's called pipe insulation.(Although builders like me call it "Donkey Dick") It comes in a variety of diameters and wall thicknesses, and even different densities, but you don't need to be very picky for racks, just make sure the inside diameter works for you. Cheap, too!

Oooh, good answer, pool noodles are excellent, but only if small diameter inside hole and large O.D. not a problem. Also pipe insulation is already slit up the side for easy installation.

Then walk over to the next aisle and buy the appropriate size of flat discharge hose for covering the pipe insulation permanently.

BTW ... specialty houses carry FAR more sizes of pipe insulation than HD or Lowe's does. You can buy just about any I.D./O.D. combination you want, in a variety of materials.

New carpet remnants work well--usually can be found for free.
