I'm wondering how everybody is adjusting to the new rules for posting what and where?
Is asking a question about iWindsurf forum posting rules a catch all, off topic political commentary kinda question or is it more an industry promoting type of news question?
I'm all confused...help me out here. |

Change is good. This is primarily a windsurfing forum. So good idea to keep the political discussions separate.
and if mfrrs or shops want to post promos, I'd rather have those in a separate forum too.
Other forums I'm on have dozens and dozens of forums for diff topics. like MTBR > that is huge for mtn bikers <http://forums.mtbr.com/>
It's not a problem for iWindsurf to have a handful of forums for different topics or areas. In fact it's better.
Hell - There are other much bigger problems in the world for us to work on. Much bigger problems than any forums, much bigger problems than anything to do with windsurfing. I THINK we can handle this change. |

Out of curiosity, is iWindsurf going to heavily monitor and force the situation like some directional fork in the road? Often the political or scientific slant on things can develop in the middle of a windsurfing topic. It happens all the time. Or on the other hand, some local promotional event is discussed as life unfolds.
I wonder how iWindsurf is going to deal with those situations. geohaye's post leaves a vacuum on that topic. I'm surprised it was a locked thread. |

I don't think they are trying to lean on us. If we are in a wrong spot it gives them a way to keep our posts without annoying others as we have done at times. We can still say what we want in any discussion. |

Good point, swchandler. No heavy monitoring. No forks in the road. The intent is to format things a bit better. Not to restrict discussion unnaturally.
Over the years, iWindsurf users have requested separate forums for commercial posts/product announcements and also for political discussion/off-topic stuff.
A windsurfing discussion mostly free from those kinds of posts and from Lost & found posts is a reasonable request. The community deserves it. So iWindsurf is shooting for that.
The goal is that those other types of posts be initiated on the Political forum / the Industry forum / the Lost & Found forum.
RE windsurfing discussions that 'evolve': It's only when discussions get completely out-of-hand and steer very far away from windsurfing and toward the national debt, or race relations, for example [[we all know it when we see it -- there are no big surprises here]], then on occasion some of those types of posts may get moved.
But most discussions that 'evolve' will stay right where they are. Like swchandler said, life unfolds. It makes sense. No heavy monitoring. The moderators would all rather be sailing. |

Thanks geohaye for the explanation and comments. I guess we'll learn more about the affects of the change over time.
Am I right in presuming that if a thread is moved that it will be handled in much the same way as the Lost and Found posts have been, with an automatic transfer link bridging you from one section to the next? |

Yes, that 'moved' link should usually be there for the "windsurfing discussions that evolved into california budget discussions" types of threads. |
