Hey guys, I'll be in Frisco for 5 days soon and I'm wondering if anyone has sailed within the area I've circled in this photo? A relative has a house right there with a grassy area for rigging and easy launching.

Yea, we sail just south and west from there, great spot we love it and go 2x a year. however be careful there are some shallows, explore and find out where they are or ask others in your area.

This is a great area for windsurfing. I have some friends who rent a couple of the houses on the point for two weeks in May. The spot seems to work for every wind direction except SE. NE winds can set up a protected flat area for speed sailing. There are a few shallow spots so be careful. Look for an older local guy named John who lives a couple houses down from the point, he's usually out on the water for 6.5 and smaller days.

Yeah, you're stoked! You'll probably want to bring a weed fin if you have one. And I might recommend being prepared to travel north if the forecast is for SW, as SW winds (especially this time of year) tend to fill in earlier and stronger the further north you go. For example, Rodanthe might be blowing 20+ starting at 2 in the afternoon, whereas Frisco won't fill in until 6 or 7 in the evening. Just something to keep your eyes on!

Swing on by and say hello when you get into town!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll definitely bring the weed fin. We're packing the car this evening and should arrive sometime late Sunday. If you see a silver volvo with NH plates say hi!

There's only one road... So I'm sure we'll see ya Smile

You're stoked on your spot for the next few days of North winds! I might suggest keeping an eye to the northern sites later in the week when the wind switches SW... At least take some depth testing runs when the wind switches around, because it'll probably get a lot shallower...

Have fun out there!

Hodad- The trip was great! Powered up on 6.7 Monday and Tuesday then fished Wednesday through Friday. Met a guy named George (long hair/pony tail/silver van) who gave me great advice about fixing my weed fin. It was catching weeds, but there was a small imperfection where it meets the board, so I filed about 1 or 2 mm's off where weed was catching and it worked!

On another note, I had no idea about the beach closings until we arrived. I'm all for protecting turtles and birds, but from talking with locals they went a little too far. Anyway! We did take my uncle's 18 ft Grady White out to The Cape Hatteras National Seashore Point and caught a few Spanish and Blues, then were surrounded by Dolphins a large school of dolphins (attached pic!).

Can't wait to get down there again for more sailing and fishing!
