It's not too good on loose sand - the skinny tires dig in. If I was using it on loose sand, I would switch to a mountain bike tire.

Or... chalk it up as a toe stub while learning and continue not wearing any footwear. I can't stand wearing anything on my feet, even in cold water - gots to feel that board and the straps....
