Actually I prefer to wear my rescue kit around my waist rather than on the rig. This way if you get separated from your rig you still have access to the kit.

For years I had my gear always in the car outside at work. I always left 1 inch open on each window, and put a reflector behind the windshield, leaving the board vents open.
